Approving Commissions and Processing Payouts

Reviewing and Confirming Payouts

Workspace administrators can review eligible partner commissions and generate invoices to fund payouts by following these steps:

  1. Review Eligible Payouts: Navigate to the payouts dashboard within your workspace to view accumulated partner commissions that have cleared the program's holding period.
  2. Configure Payout Parameters: Select the payouts you want to include, choose your payment method, and set optional cutoff periods.
  3. Confirm and Process: Confirm the payout batch to generate an invoice. The system validates payment details, calculates applicable payout fees, and creates a payment intent to fund the transfers.

Warning

If an invoice includes external payouts, you must have an active webhook subscribed to the payout.confirmed event before proceeding, otherwise the request will be rejected.

Handling Refunds and Adjustments

When customer payments are refunded or disputed, associated commission statuses and balances are automatically adjusted to reflect the change in funds.

  • Holding Periods: Payouts remain in a pending status during the program's holding period (options include 0, 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days) to account for potential refunds.
  • Failed Charges: If an invoice payment fails or is reversed before funds settle, automated cron jobs pause payout distribution to prevent advancing uncollected funds.

Issuing Invoices

Invoices are automatically generated when a payout batch is confirmed.

  • Invoices for Programs: Workspace administrators can view invoice summaries detailing total payout amounts, platform fees, and net charges.
  • Invoices for Partners: Partners can view and download individualized PDF invoices for completed payouts directly from their partner dashboard (/invoices/[payoutId]). These documents include program details, payout amounts, transaction reference numbers, and applicable VAT or GST reverse-charge notices for international partners (such as EU countries or Australia).

Sending Payouts via Stripe, PayPal, or Stablecoin

Once an invoice charge succeeds, the system automatically routes funds through the partner's designated payout method:

  • Stripe Transfers (connect): Funds are transferred directly to the partner's connected Stripe account. For card payments, source transaction references are included to handle fast settlements.
  • PayPal Payouts (paypal): Payout items are batched and sent via PayPal's batch payout API to the partner's registered PayPal email.
  • Stablecoin Payouts (stablecoin): Dub funds its internal financial account, deducts the 0.5% stablecoin fee, and transfers USDC directly to the partner's connected crypto wallet via Stripe's recipient crypto capabilities.

Tip

If a partner's payout amount falls below the minimum withdrawal threshold of $10.00, the payout is marked as processed and held for up to 90 days. Partners can manually trigger an instant withdrawal by selecting "Pay out now" on their dashboard, which incurs a small withdrawal fee of $0.50.
