Overview

Managing your user account and workspaces allows you to configure your personal profile details, set up collaborative environments for your team, and control who has access to your resources. This guide covers how to set up your profile, create and customize workspaces, invite team members, and assign role-based permissions.

Configuring Your User Profile

Profile Details and Settings

Your user profile holds your personal identity information across the platform, including your display name, email address, profile picture, and default workspace preferences.

Updating Personal Information

  1. Navigate to your account settings page (/account/settings).
  2. Update your Display Name (maximum 32 characters).
  3. Update your Email Address.

Note

Changing your email address requires email confirmation. Your email will not be updated until you click the verification link sent to your new address.

Managing Account Settings

  • Profile Picture: Upload or update your personal avatar image.
  • Default Workspace: Set a preferred workspace to automatically redirect to upon logging in.
  • Account Deletion: Permanently delete your user account and remove associated personal data.

Working with Workspaces

Workspace Essentials and Limits

A workspace is a dedicated, collaborative environment where you and your team manage short links, partner programs, domains, and analytics.

Key Workspace Concepts

  • Workspace Slug: A unique URL identifier for your workspace (e.g., app.dub.co/my-workspace), consisting of lowercase letters, numbers, and dashes (3 to 48 characters).
  • Free Workspaces Limit: Users can create up to 3 free workspaces. Additional workspaces require upgrading to a paid plan.

Creating a New Workspace

  1. Open the workspace dropdown menu in the sidebar and click Create workspace (or navigate to the workspace creation onboarding step).
  2. Enter your Workspace Name (maximum 32 characters).
  3. Set your Workspace Slug, which acts as your unique URL identifier.
  4. Upload an optional Workspace Logo (recommended size: 160x160px, up to 2MB).
  5. Click Create workspace to finish.

Updating Workspace Settings

Workspace owners can modify general settings under /[slug]/settings:

  • Workspace Name: Change the display name of your workspace.
  • Workspace Slug: Update the unique URL slug. Changing the slug automatically redirects your active session and updates workspace navigation.
  • Logo: Upload or change the workspace logo image.
  • Default Product: Set the default landing product view for the workspace.

Collaborating with Team Members

Team Management and Access

Workspaces enable you to collaborate by inviting team members and assigning them specific security roles.

Inviting Teammates

  1. Go to your workspace settings and select Members (/[slug]/settings/members).
  2. Click Invite member to open the invitation modal.
  3. Enter the email addresses of the teammates you want to invite (up to 10 at a time).
  4. Select a role for the invited users and click send.

Tip

You can also generate and share a secure invite link to let teammates join your workspace directly. Invite links and email invitations remain valid for 14 days.

Workspace Roles and Permissions

Each workspace member is assigned a specific role that dictates their access level and capabilities.

RoleDescription
ownerFull administrative control over the workspace, billing, settings, and team members.
memberStandard read and write access for managing links and resources.
billingAccess to manage subscription details, invoices, and billing settings.
viewerRead-only access to view links, analytics, and workspace data.

Warning

You cannot remove the last remaining owner from a workspace. To remove yourself as an owner, you must first transfer ownership to another user.
