## Overview

Short links are the core building blocks of your tracking and redirection system. This guide covers how to create, edit, organize into folders, and manage tags for your short links, helping you keep your campaigns organized and easy to analyze.

## Creating Short Links

### Overview of Link Creation
You can create individual short links using the link builder, or bulk-create links up to your workspace plan limits.

### Step 1: Open the Link Builder
Navigate to your workspace links page and click the **Create link** button.

### Step 2: Configure Your Link Settings
Provide the necessary parameters for your tracking link:
* **Destination URL:** The web address where visitors will ultimately be redirected.
* **Domain:** Choose from your available custom domains.
* **Short Link Key:** (Optional) Customize the path suffix for your short link. If left blank, a random key will be generated. You can also use AI or random key generators in the interface.

### Step 3: Save and Copy
Click save to create your link. When creating a new link, the system will automatically copy the generated short link to your clipboard.

> [!TIP]
> Short links longer than 25 characters may appear truncated or formatted differently on certain social platforms like LinkedIn or Twitter. Keep your keys short and memorable.

## Editing and Managing Short Links

### Link Controls and Actions
Through the link controls menu, you can modify existing short links at any time to update destination URLs, adjust tracking parameters, or manage security settings.

| Action | Description | Shortcut |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| **Edit** | Modify the link's destination URL, key, or metadata. | `E` |
| **QR Code** | View and customize the generated QR code design. | `Q` |
| **Copy Link ID** | Copy the internal unique identifier of the link. | `I` |
| **Duplicate** | Create a copy of the link with a new suffix. | `D` |
| **Move** | Transfer the link into a specific folder. | `M` |
| **Archive** | Hide the link without permanently deleting it. | `A` |
| **Transfer** | Transfer a custom domain link to another workspace. | `T` |
| **Delete** | Permanently remove the link (if conditions allow). | `X` |

### Updating a Link
1. Locate the link in your workspace links list.
2. Click the options menu (`...`) next to the link and select **Edit**, or click directly on the link row to open the link builder.
3. Update your target URL, custom tags, folder placement, or advanced options.
4. Save your changes.

> [!WARNING]
> Editing an existing short link key after it has been shared publicly will break existing inbound clicks unless you set up proper redirects. Use caution when modifying live link paths.

---

## Organizing Links into Folders

Folders help you structure and partition links within your workspace by project, campaign, or team.

* **Assigning Folders:** When creating or editing a link, use the folder selector panel to place the link into an existing folder.
* **Folder Permissions:** Access to create, edit, or delete links inside specific folders is governed by folder-level permissions assigned to workspace members.

## Managing Tags for Tracking Links

### Tagging Overview
Tags allow you to label and filter your links across different campaigns, channels, or categories.

### Adding and Updating Tags
1. Open the link builder for any link.
2. Use the **Tag Select** component to assign existing tags or create new ones with custom colors.
3. For batch updates, select multiple links from your links list and use the bulk action modal to update tags across all selected links simultaneously.
